So..does she need to make room..

I fed Indy last week, the couple months I've had her she poops about five days after eating. she hasn't pooped yet this week, and she wasn't interested in her small live rat last night. Do you think she is not eating because she has not yet finished her digestion process? All her husbandry is correct, and she is due for a shed cycle but she is coming out to roam at night, which she doesn't do when she's even beginning her shed cycle. Thoughts?

She's a ball python, they don't require any logical reason to suddenly decide that food is evil. Don't sweat it, BP's go off feed it's part of the game. Hopefully she will eat next feeding day. Just stick to your feeding schedule even if she doesn't eat.

Re: So..does she need to make room..

I learning the art of patience myself. I have a spider female who only eats mice and even then, there's no guarantee she'll eat for me. She has no consistent pattern. Some days she'll eat a mouse...some days she won't. She's a moody little snake! Do like I do and just offer her food every feeding day. If she's hungry, she'll eat.

Aaron was right, they don't need any reason to stop eating. My bee, who has been my best eater is a year and a half old, never missed a meal. Until last weekend. And again, this weekend. Zero interest this weekend. But for the last two weeks she has been hanging out on the cool side and with her water bowl. I think she thinks she is going to get to breed. Silly girl, she's got one more year. I hate it when they don't eat though. My one kinda finicky male though, he for the last two weeks has been pounding everything in sight. He wasn't due to eat till Sunday, but I didn't want to waste the p/k rat I tried to give my bee, so he chowed it right down. Who knows, they are goofy creatures.

When you offer frozen food. If they do not eat will you re-freeze it and offer it again? Or just throw it out?

That's debatable. Some tell you not to refreeze it. For me, If I leave it in their tub overnight, I just toss it out. But if I thaw it out and just zombie dance it around for a little bit (no longer than two hours), I'll go ahead and put it back in the freezer ONCE. If it's not eaten on the next re-thaw, it gets tossed.

After the exploding rat incident I never refreeze but I also thaw the night before in the fridge and then heat in warm water. And yes some snake decide they don not want to eats at time. I think they do it just to see what we will do next. I am sure I hear them laughing at me sometimes and I know they all talk to eachother about who is eating tonight and who is on a fast
