A snakes striking distance is roughly 1/2 - 2/3 of it's body length, though many of mine will actually close in first and then strike, they do it so fast it looks like one movement.

Re: Whats A BP's Striking Distance?

It all depends on the snake's length. They can be very deceptive as to when and how far they can strike.

    Always....

Four inches longer than you thought it was.

One of mine actually threw itself out of the tub chasing a rat I wasn't holding.

x2 for dr del. 2 of my biggest girls will charge out from the back of their tubs when im feeding without any sense of direction or aim, mouths WIDE open and just try and grab onto whatever they hit first. so in this case, just about their whole body length. lol

Re: Whats A BP's Striking Distance?

I say 1/2 just because they don't want to leave room for error. Unlike venomous snakes that launch themselves close to there body length just because one fang hit does the job. IMO
