leos having seizures.... :( need info

So has anyone heard of or has seen seizures in geckos? More specific bell albinos. I purchased 2.2 this year. All from different breeders and so far 1.1 has had seizures. I had to have the one male euthanasied and trying to give the female a couple more days to see if she pulls through. Both were fine one day and the next was just spasiming every time I'd open the tub. They were bought months apart and none of my others have had this happen so don't think its anything contagious. Also has been several month since the male was put down. But they both were right about 35 grams when it happened. Idk please any info would be helpful.

I'm so sorry . I wish I could help, but I don't know of anything specific with bell albinos. Have you contacted the breeder? Other than exposure to extreme heat, neuro damage, infection etc I don't know. I hope she gets better! I'm sure someone will chime in that knows more about Leos.

The first one I purchased from a cl ad and just kind of wrote it off as that. But I did contact the person I got this one from. He acquired it from jmg. Says he never seen anything wrong or any symptoms in her. Idk. I can't blame anyone for what's going on. I just want to find out what's happening. I keep them in racks so I know its not overheating or there would be more of it happening and not just to the bells.

Make sure they have enough calcium etc... I read on a nother thread that MBD can cause seizing but I am not entirely sure.

With the frogs, they will go into seizures when startled when they have a calcium deficiency. Please make sure your calcium is no older than 6 months. Light, heat, and oxygen break down the calcium quickly. You can keep it good for longer in an airtight bag in your freezer, but I just buy new. See if you can supplement with liquid calcium. I don't know what the dosing is for leos. But its 1part liquid cal to 10 parts dechlorinated waterfor frogs. I got mine at Tractor Supply and remember to get a needle and syringe.

I know my calcium is less than 3 months old. I leave a dish with it and a multi vitamin in the tubs at all times. They get fresh every 3 days. Fresh water and worms daily. Would to much calcium be as bad as not enough? I drop the worms in everyone's calcium dish. So they are getting dusted worms daily.

I am also wondering if its something neurological. But it definitely is strange that two geckos from different people are experiencing this.

I wish I could help you more, but I am clueless on this. Maybe you could post this at geckoforums.net there is definitely a lot of experienced gecko people there. Best of luck to you and your gecko.

You haven't treated any reptiles for mites recently have you? PAM will give reptiles seizures.
