    genetics question...

if you breed a 100% het for clown female to a pastel 66% het for clown male.....what is the possible outcome and what %het are the babies...i am so sorry if this is a silly question, but I am a newbie to the breeding aspect of all of this and I am just trying to understand with out my head exploding lol

Well that depends on if the pastel 66% het clown proves to be het clown or not (the percentages only signify the chance of the snake carring the het clown gene. So the 100% has it for sure and there is a 66% chance that the pastel has it.

If they both carry the het clown gene you could produce

    Normals 66% het clown

    Pastels 66% het clown

    Clowns

    Pastel Clowns

If the 66% het proves not to be carrying the het clown gene then the outcome will be

    1/2 normal 50% het clown

    1/2 pastel 50% het clown

    Re: genetics question...

thank you so much....helps to have someone explain it simply....also helps in knowing what to buy and what not to....found a breeder with babies from this particular pairing but they did not get any clowns at all....so I am assuming the odds are against the sire carrying the clown gene

I wouldn't say 66% chance is bad, but it certainly isn't a guarantee.
