Trust me when I say I understand the need for pain. Why I like to spar. It's controlled chaos until someone taps. We dont usually go so far to knock anyone out but it does happen. Let me say officially that I don't condone violence as a way to beat down. Set aside the military and police.
Its so hard to explain that feeling when you step onto the mat for battle. You know your opponent. You know he knows you. You know that in about 10 minutes you will be helping each other up and trying to figure out who's buying beers tonight. You land a few good punches, then get tagged a few times. Now you are in it. You lose all thought and memory of everything outside you, the mat and your opponent. For me everything slows way down. some nights you get beers bought for you and some nights you're the one buying beers.
Maybe its a little insane but It makes me feel strong and powerful. When the small things in life happen I can blow them off. When bigger things happen I buy a bottle of rum and the post on here that I wanna punch someone. When its too much I go to the gym and spar for a while. Being able to step up knowing you are going to get punched, kicked, thrown, choked and beaten gives you strength you didn't know you had. All i gotta say is BRING IT! but after bring a cold beer cuz I'll be thirsty and need to slow the swelling on my eye.
