Success!
Okay, so I got my bp to take his first f/t mouse, but when he hit it, and curled, all this pink stuff came out of the mouse, I'm assuming it was intestines, etc. is this a bad thing? And it also looked like a had a tooth stuck in the prey, if it ever happens again, and he can't get it back out, what should I do?

Update: He ate the intestines, almost got sick but at least he took it, I'm so happy, and excited, and grateful, no more 20-30 minute trips each week to the pet store I love!!!!

If he ate it just fine it shouldn't be a problem. The skin on baby feeders tends to weaken very easily because it is so thin and it can get nasty. Bursting feeders is often caused by heating the prey item for too long or too much thawing and refreezing. If it happens again, don't buy from that pet store!

It was an adult mouse so I don't think it was weak skin, more than likely too much freezing and too much thawing, and where do you guys buy your feeders from?

Mice do have a thin and weak skin, even adults. Use warm water not hot, and for less amount of time.

Re: Success!
There's where I went wrong! I always use hot water, and leave it in there for around 15 minutes.

Re: Success!
I have had this happen before too with frozen mice. It is nasty and it stinks! You are lucky your snake ate it because my snakes are so damn picky that they will not eat a f/t prey item that has spewed its guts. Congrats on the successful feed!

Re: Success!
I figured he wouldn't and yes you're very correct, it did indeed smell horrible. It was also very odd, the guts stayed together and he swallowed it so I just jumped up and down and was just soooooo excited he took it at all!
