    What-the!?

So Bill calls me out to check out something in the front yard. I get out there and see two little dudes flitting around our flower bush. We watched them for a few and came to the conclusion they were small hummingbirds. About half size, maybe 3/4 size of normal hummingbirds. Juveniles maybe? Who knows.. So I grab my camera to see if I can get some candid flight shots by randomly pointing and clicking..They are NOT easy to photograph...and I thought my kids were hard. HA.
Anyways, I go back inside to zoom in on the pics and see what the little fellas look like up close and to see if I got any decent shots. Boy was I surprised...

It was a moth!! I looked it up online and it's actually called "Hummingbird Moth". So freaking cool! It's flight pattern matched a hummingbird to the T. I named him Mothra (There were 2, but one flew away before I grabbed my camera...so this is all the same little guy and his name is Mothra and he is my friend and he is MY MOTHRA! *snuggles*)

Hope you enjoy I just thought it was so neat! hehe

I thought they were young hummingbirds too the first time they showed up here! Cool little suckers, they seem to love our salvia and moon vines.

You may never have the opportunity to see one, but Luna moths are also pretty mammoth.

There really are a lot of very cool insects as well if folks ever get tired of snakes.

Did an insect collection project in 6th grade. 27 years old now, still have that thing in storage somewhere.

I use to see these things all the time when I was younger and we had moon flowers that grew in the back yard.
