UTH Adhesive Failure
Sorry if this does not belong here, I'm new to the forums and did a search but didn't find a thread about this.** It's a 3 month old Zoo Med 25-30 gallon UTH, I noticed this morning it's hanging off the underside of the tank. We followed the directions step by step and I've never had this happen before. The wire is attached to the tank stand so the wire isn't pulling it off, but it's still just hanging there half off and refusing to re-stick. Is it a lost cause or is there something we can use to safely hold it in place? If it' a lost cause is this something that is happening with the newer heaters or is this just a fluke?

You can always stick it back on with aluminum foil tape.

Is it being regulated by a thermostat? Excessive heat can cause the adhesive to fail (and can burn/kill your snake)

Re: UTH Adhesive Failure
Yeah I have it on a HydroFarm Thermostat (I know its not the best but it's what I have for now) According to the thermostat and the thermometers in the tank the temp is fine its almost like it dried out. I've used these UTH before for my rosehair T. but never had this problem.

When ever I bought them new I would peel the backing off and stick it to aluminum foil so it wouldn't stick to anything. I use either foil tape to tape it to the under side of the enclosure or just rest the enclosure on top of it. I just don't like to have them attached during cleanings.

aluminum foil tape is your best bet. easy to to take off and reapply for cleanings and it radiates a bit of heat as well!

I never did like aluminum foil tape, I prefer to use duct tape (REAL duct tape, the kind that is used on heating ducts)

Doesn't really matter what tape you use as long as it is rated well beyond the max temp the UTH (or any heat appliance) is capable of. I have seen uth hit 160-180ºF so I figure 200ºF+ rated tape and wire is important.
