Bad Shed Blood Stain

Hello everyone,

I tried to google and search forums on my problem, but still would like to ask your opinion on my exact situation.

My lovely python had a bed shed — I read plenty of posts about soaking, rubbing and other ways, to help him shed, but the problem is that he has got a little blood 'scratch' on his head behind the eye — and I'm pretty scared.
How do I treat him? Can he soak with this scratch or do I just keep the humidity high level?

This is first time he's having a bad shed and I'm pretty nervous about it.

A scratch probably isn't going to cause any problems. If you suspect infection then soak him in a bath of 1 parts Betadine and 10 parts warm water. This will disinfect the wound. Do NOT use Neosporin as it will make things worse.

I would make a hand towel amp with warm water, then let the BP slither through the towel while you apply some pressure. this should help get most of the stuck shed off. I would maintain the humidity at 60%-75% until all of the stuck shed is gone.

BPs can be rough on themselves when shedding. I've seen some of my over zealous BPs have blood on their shed skin, and in their vent area, never on the head. As long as it isn't still bleeding and you don't see an actual wound I wouldn't worry too much.
