Some critters will go off feed if you change the type of bedding - and some baby ball pythons feed better on aspen than they do on paper.

I do use paper for all of mine - but keep an open mind that yours may not take to paper and be willing to change back if needed.

Wow, I can't believe how many people use paper products. I guess it's because most of you have several herps. Myself I have one 20 gallon terrarium containing 2 very young BPs. One normal and one Black Pastel. Since I only have one tank it has a 2 inch deep layer of "All Living Things"(petsmart brand) Fir mulch. It holds moisture well and is just rough enough to encourage good shedding. Sidenote: I just got these snakes on Monday and today they had their first meal. I would post pics but mine don't want to show up when I attach them. Any ideas on that?

Housing bps together is not a good idea. You should get them their own enclosures.

I just wanted to say that I use kiln-dried pine. You might be able to get it cheaper than aspen, and you also may like it more than newspaper. I tried newspaper but I like the idea of spot cleaning. You can't do that with newspaper. (which, for some people, is a plus. makes the whole cage clean) It's worked really well for me and my snakes!

I use a light layer of eco earth with a layer of the aspen over it.
I am lucky enough to have a reasonably located large reptile store that sells aspen that winds up pretty much cheaper than the paper towels...For the equivalent of the large bags Petco sells for $10, I pay like $3 because they buy in bulk and package themselves in a no frills bag.
