My small cat has been super curious about my new large Boa ever since I brought her home. I don't let them really see each other until the other day when I went to feed her. I set her glass cage on the floor before placing her in her feeding bin and out of nowhere here came curious cat. While staring through the cage at my red-tail the cat realized for the first time that it was the prey in that situation and freaked out. The snake, following instinct, went nuts trying to eat my cat as it scurried away. I can say that my cat is no longer allowed anywhere near my snakes or their cages.
My wife would kill me if the cat got eaten by our newest snake.

Hahahhaha, my cat does this when she sees oliver, my ball...but for some reason, LOVES to watch my retic. whether he's eating, roaming, sleeping...she's watching him. crazy cat. She's OUT of the room when the snakes are out, and is locked out of the bedroom when we aren't home so she can't torment him.
Mine's bigger.

My cat used to follow me into the snake room when I'd do homework as it doubles as my office. However, while she ignored the snakes most of the time, one night she and my 4 ft female normal got into a staring contest. Isis (snake) was periscoping out of her hide and scenting like crazy. Miley (cat) sat watching with her tail twitching. They were in a dead lock staring contest. So, I thought it was time to end it before the cat did anything stupid to make Isis strike at the glass. When I reached for her, she turned around and mauled my arm. Still have scars. I guess she thought she was prey. Kinda silly on my part, but she has never been allowed in there again. And I think it's best that way. No doggies or kitties in the snake room! Regardless of which room that may be in your house.

My snake and ball python ignored each other at first, even sat on the couch with both of them. Then one day the snake is crawling down the hall way and the cat gets all freaked out, hair stands on end, like she just now noticed it was a snake. My snake has no interest in her, but she doesn't seem to like the snake anymore. I just shoo her out of the room anytime the snake is out these days.
The cat pays no attention to the snake when he's in his cage. Although she does seem to appear at feeding time. Stupid cat. If she actually seen a live mouse or rat she would be scared and not know what to do with it.

I'm just going to throw this out there: I keep my cats out of my room where Will is, because they have moved the thermostat probe multiple :cens0r:ing times, which could have been disastrous if I hadn't checked it. So, no cats in the snake room.

Hahaha yeah cats and snakes are funny lol. In no way do I let my cats around the snakes if I'm not in the room but here's a funny one. Jaden my daughters cat was super curious about my ball. I moved the snake to the bedroom recently and the tank is low enough for the kitty to just barely look in. Lol well jaden was peeking in last night as Shiva was roaming around and she noticed the cat... The cat stuck its nose against the glass and... THUNK!!! Shiva snapped at the cat lol! Lol my god the kitten leaped like 2 foot in the air and dipped!!! Lol kitten hasn't been anywhere near the tank since! Epic!
Curious kitty right before realizing it may someday be lunch lol

My cat Rascal likes to watch the snakes when they're roaming around the tank. I think because he doesn't know what they are, he wants to find out! I make sure to keep him away from my snakes, Loki because I'm afraid he's going to hurt her, and Satin because I'm afraid SHE'S gonna hurt HIM! He keeps trying to sneak peeks into my boa's cage (it's close to the floor) and I have to keep pushing him away when I have the door open. I think he thinks their self-propelling toys, so I keep them away from each other whenever I have the snakes out.
When my boa was smaller, I lived with a girl who had a kitten. He was super-adventurous, and one day somehow snuck up behind me when I had Satin around my shoulders. He smacked her on the head I guess, and tagged him on the top of his head. You've never heard a cat make such a fuss. Screamed like she took his leg off and shot out of the room. We found him and made sure he was okay (he wasn't bleeding, just scared out of his mind), but needless to say he steered VERY clear of the snake's tanks or wherever they were. He was a lucky kitty, and now I'm VERY careful of where the furry pets are when the snakes are out.

My cats don't have an issue with the snakes unless I get one out. I think they hate the smell. Anyway they wrinkle up their faces and back away quickly.
I used to have a big male who was a Houdini if there ever was one, he'd squeeze out of 1/4" mesh cloth I swear. More than once I discovered he was out by the row of cats lined up in the kitchen staring at the laundry baskets, move the baskets and there he would be, stretched out along the wall. I'd always check him inch by inch for damage, but luckily never found any. I finally had to re home him because I couldn't figure out how to escape proof his cage [ aquarium ].
Thank goodness tubs come with latching lids.
