Koko had better never say I don't love her!

Was just feeding everyone and as soon as our mojave struck I could tell she did it wrong. I immediately grabbed for something to shove in the rats mouth but someone had moved my forceps and there was nothing to use so I grabbed the rat's face right before it sank it's teeth into my girl's neck. It of course sank them into me instead, right in the tip of my right index finger and I held on until it quit moving. It was a small rat so it may not have hurt her too bad but it was right near her throat and I wasn't risking it.

It looks small but it bit me DEEP. You can't see it as well in the pic because I held it tight for a few to make it quit pouring but there's a thick flap-like chunk of flesh you can lift up and you can see meat. I reeeeeally hope it's numb from shock and not nerve damage :/ At least Koko's okay and I guess it's a cool story...kinna wish I coulda gotten a pic of it when it was actually biting me since I wasn't doing much else than cursing.

You probably saved her life! Truly a good snake owner if your risk your **life being bitter by a dying rat. Good job!

This is one of the worst bites I've seen in the BP section, and it's not from a bp
On topic, way to go man! Koko has got one awesome keeper looking out for her That is a badass war story, make sure it gets grander each telling. 2lb rat, 3" lacerations, to the bone, stared it down in the eyes unwavering until it drew it's last breath, released a triumphant bellow afterwards, etc etc

Rat bites are worse than snake bites, IMO. I bet that hurts.

You are so fierce! Great job!

A similar feeding happened with my Mojave girl last week coincidentally. I misplaced my chopstick(what I use to shove in rodent mouths) and kept trying to flick the feeders head back with my fingers. The rat kept trying to chomp everything near it. The snake only coiled the midsection and lower, leaving the entire head free. I ended up grabbing my cell phone from my pocket and using that to block the feeder.
