I used to be sad to see summer go, but I'm learning to love all of the seasons for their own reasons. Living in New England where the weather changes SO dramatically through the seasons, I guess this was kind of a natural process.
For fall I am excited for all of the things you mentioned. The smells, harvest season, color changes, cool breezes, etc. Fall foliage hiking is one of my favorite things in the world. I like the way the wind changes here. It starts swirling and looping in its pattern. It's very distinct and wonderful.
What I don't like is waking up and walking out of my house in a t-shirt this morning to realize it suddenly turned 45 degrees overnight.
Oh well, guess I'll get excited for snow shoeing and snowboarding...
