It would really be best to get the UTH regulated by a thermostat.

UTH's don't effect the air temperature in the cage, so if the air temps drop below 75 degrees you will need to use a heat lamp to raise them.

You should feed your snake on a schedule (and stick to it even if he refuses) I would recommend every 5 days or every 7 days.
