The Guys With Long Hair Thread

This is somewhat influenced by the beard thread. At the suggestion of my wife, I started growing my hair out about 3 years ago. It had never been longer than past my neck. Here is a pick from 4 years ago or so when it was still short.

What you see in my Avatar pic here is basically how it is now. And I much prefer it. I just have to throw it back in a pony tail and go. Don't really have to worry about combing or styling. The only draw back is if I have it down and it gets really windy or hot. Comes in handy in the winter! Actually there is another more minor drawback in that sometimes when it's down people mistake me for a girl from behind. Especially at restaurants when a waitress approaches from behind. One time my wife and I were sitting on one side of a table and a couple friends across from us. The waitress comes up to take drink orders. Looks at our friends first and takes theirs. The says "And how about you ladies..." and then looks and realizes I am a guy. My friends ROFL'd for about 5 minutes. The lady immediately apologized. I just laughed and took it in stride. I was real skinny in high school so I guess it's a good thing I didn't have long hair then.

Anyways, let's hear from the headbangers, hippies, and country boys, and anyone else that's male with long hair.

Cool thread idea. I've been meaning to take an update pic anyway. I had long hair in high school and cut it off in 2000 I think. After that, I kept my head shaved to about 1/8 inch for like 10 years. A couple years ago, my brother decided to grow his hair out for Locks of Love. He sent me before and after pics and it inspired me to do the same. My hair grows pretty quickly, so about a year ago, I started growing mine. I'm planning on letting it go until at least the end of the year, but I may go until April. A local radio morning show does an annual event for Locks of Love where if you donate 10" of hair or more, you get into the VIP event and all the hair collected goes to children cancer patients...

h00blah: Very nice. I think I'll like this thread, as I have a thing for guys with long hair. As can be seen by the fact that my beloved partner, Ari, has a ponytail that very nearly reaches the small of his back.

I don't have any good pictures of him with it down (as from the front you can't see that it's long), so I'll have to coax him into letting me take some. I'll post them when he does.

I used to have hair long enough to sit on. Got it trimmed and it was never that long again. Right now it's just brushing my shoulders again. Had bit of an issue and wound up being bald for most of a year. Now it's coming in curly as all get out. No pics, but there were very few people who had hair longer than mine was for many years. I'll get there again, but it'll be a while. I am, and always will be, a longhair at heart.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

I had hair past my elbows in high school then one day I shaved it and donated it to locks of love. I've always thought about growing it back out but never have.
