So I've been watching Ranma a lot. About 130 episodes in. I also found Tenchi Muyo on Hulu in raw form with subs. And I am just amazed at how much editing Funimation did with Tenchi. And I know why Ranma never aired here. Why?
Female nudity.
Not in a porn way. Actually, it's mostly funny when it happens. Especially in Ranma. While it's only in a handful of episodes, I don't think the scenes would be as effective without them. I knew years ago that Japan (and East Asia in general) had a different view of nudity than the west. At least for the most part. But it can still be eye opening to watch.
I've also finally confirmed my suspicions on what nosebleeds in anime represent. If you didn't know, it's basically the animators way of telling you that the person (nearly always a guy) is turned on. It's easier and less awkward to represent it that way. So now you know if you didn't already.
Oh I just finished watching Corpse Princess. I want more! The ending just left me hanging. I understand the manga continues but I want more of the anime. It is rather recent so maybe it will get picked up.
What else...oh yeah. I have someone grown to enjoy Baka and Test. This is despite it being what the name implies: Stupid. But it's grown on me a lot. I find it funny. Everything from the fact that Aki is the stupidest person on Earth and somehow attracts all the hot girls in his class to the guy named Hideyoshi who is constantly mistaken for a girl and is given his own bathroom. Not just at school but everywhere Sadly only the first season is on Netflix.
I've also confirmed that Japanese has as much slang and in-formalities as English does. The best example is the commonly heard "Sou ka" which translates to "I see" or "Is that so?" The formal way to say this would be "Sou desu ka?" But in almost all cases the "desu" is dropped.
Oh, don't what Clannad After Story. It's so depressing. It actually made Chanin cry.
