Yeah I can see where it could be crazy for shipping, but nowadays everything can be shipped relatively cheaply. Maybe it also has something to do with my location. I am very close to a major UPS hub.

Last time I checked it cost too much to ship. It must be less if you are close to a distribution point, which I probably am not. I guess that is why the feed store said that they would only order it when they had a regularly scheduled shipment to come in. Mazuri is owned by Purina, so any feed store that carries Purina should be able to order it for you.

Ok that's all very helpful info. I actually did check mazuri's website before I
made this thread and it was pretty cheap (26 bucks I think) but I figured I would pay an arm and a leg for shipping. I'll go back and check to see if they have a local dealer near me like you guys suggested. Also, I'll check a local feed store to see if they can order some. How much do you guys typically pay for them to special order it? Cuz certainly the store has to pay for shipping too. I can't see it being much cheaper than just ordering it from mazuri.
Thanks in advance,
SC

When a feed store ships, they ship in bulk with tons of other foods. Their price per bag for shipping is very small compared to us. Even buying hundreds of pounds per month, the feed stores are cheaper for me than buying direct and shipping.

Awesome! Well I'm gonna go by tractor supply and see if they have any. Mazuri says they are a dealer of the 6F so it's probably my best bet. The only thing is I actually called them the other day and asked them if they had any and they said no. So hopefully the guy I talked to just didn't know what he was talking about.

I know my local Tractor Supply doesn't carry Mazuri.
However, my local feed store sells Mazuri 50 lb bags for $27. I've seen people on here get it for cheaper and more expensive though. I guess it just depends on your location. The most expensive I've seen in my particular area was $50 for a 50 lb bag.

Oh ok. Well tractor supply is the only thing near me right now. Once I move back home at the end of the semester (I graduate in December) I'll have more options...

I had a small bag of expensive rabbit food I just didn't want to waste and my rats wouldn't touch it. The fat content and fiber content is also very different. If it helps, Mazuri just had free shipping for 50lb bags recently and right now they have $9.99 flat rate shipping for up to 100lbs. My local feed store isn't reliable so I've been ordering directly from Mazuri.. I just try to check for when they run shipping specials to try to save $ every way I can.
Best of luck!

Ya that's probably the best option. Good idea.
