Most temp guns have the exact same specs for accuracy +/- 2ºF so as far as accuracy goes they often are about the exact same. The big difference is the DS ratio which is the most optimal distance the gun should be used with. Typically Royals are in smaller spaces and the long ratios are not feasible . A 50:1 is best used at 16 feet hardly useful for Royals, Crocs yup perfect. Typically a 1:1 or 6:1 (4 inches and 24 inches) are going to be the most useful. The other issue has little to do with function but is all practical use, what kind of battery does it take. I once had a meter that took 2 CR123a batteries... at 27$ each it was a nightmare when it was left on (hard switch) I gave it away the second time it was accidentally left on. I would check to see if it is a common reasonable battery, (AAA,AA,9V for example) some of the odd ones (N,CR series,buttons) can but found but not off the shelf in a general store but only at a speciality store personally I avoid these.
