Thank you so I'm new to this. I have a small little collection. How to you confirm it's a yellow belly? Besides the fact the belly is yellow. What marks do I look for? What if the coloring is orange? My buddie just hatched a few like this but with more orange
It is not that the belly is yellow, it is that the border of a yellowbelly's belly has a more checkered appearance than other morphs and the main belly scales are typically clear of any markings. Also the yellow patches on the side that are down near the belly are referred to as flames and they are pretty prominant and yellow on a YB. On hatchlings they will appear more orange but eventually yellow up and then become almost a gold as an adult. Most YBs have head markings where it is lighter than the surrounding scales, sometimes referred to as a headstamp. Last, when you hold a YB next to a classic (normal) of similar size, you will see the overall apearance of the YB is more yellow.
