Minor Bearded Dragon problem.
Hey guys Slash (My Beardie) will not chase after his roaches. I thought it was normal that they wait until prey comes to them until i watched some videos earlier.
Should i try to correct this? I am using a reptisun 10.0 and a reptihalogen basking light, he is in a 40 gallon breeder with a carpet, a climbing log and a cave/basking spot.

How old and how big is he? I know that older and/or heavier beardies will get lazy. They will prefer to be fed than to hunt. To a point, a somewhat neglected beardie will hunt better than a spoiled one!

Up your hot side temp by 5-10 degrees but make sure your cool side doesn't go much higher. Hot side night temps don't matter as long as your enclosure stays up above 65-68F.
If he's still not eating once you increase the hot side temp, try a different food source. I prefer crickets for hatchling dragons and recommend switching over to dubia once they hit 8'' or so. The jumping motion provokes a greater prey stimulation than a dubias' scuttling at that young age.
If he's not a young dragon, try crickets and other prey sources anyway. Occasionally, some dragons just go through spells where they refuse certain prey. I had one dubia-destroying dragon that suddenly refused both crickets and dubias for months before deciding to eat crickets again (but still not dubias).

Our young beardie was the same way. We fed crickets and he loved them but wasnt the most active going after them. As long as your temps are ok and he does actually eat he may just be a lazy little lizard lol.

SOmetimes there just lazy. My female(500 grams empty) is as lazy as they come an prefers her dubia in a dish. Depends on how
Old your beardie is he could be getting older ad starting to prefer his veggies more than his insects.

For young BD's especially, covered 3 of the 4 walls of their glass tank can change their attitude almost immediately. It makes them feel more secure instead of "naked and on display". Since they are an animal that is preyed upon, they like that feeling of being secure. Covering the back and side glass walls of his tank with cardboard or paper might be just what he needs.
