My first litter!
Today when I came home from lunch I found my silver fawn Rex female giving birth! I had to go to work but when I got back I counted 14 pups! Is that normal or a fairly large litter? It seems like a lot but considering how big this female got before giving birth it makes sense!

Next to some other pups that aldebono had given me when I picked up the rats last week.

Congratulations! That's awesome and a nice looking litter. Looks like they all have their milk bands, so that's definitely a good thing. As to the size/number in the litter: that all depends on the genetics. I have one female who will regularly throw 18+ in her litters and others who average 11 to 12 per litter. That's great that she threw that size and that number on her first go round and they all look to be a healthy size with no apparent runts in the litter. Congratulations and good luck with her!

This is only her first time breeding with ME. She was a breeder for aldebono before I picked her up I'm probably going to hold back a female or two because I love the silver fawn and the silver fawn Rex

Gotcha. I know NOTHING about rat genetics so I have no idea what that means but that sounds cool, lol! I can follow you on the Rex part of things but the silver fawn...is that a dominant or recessive trait? Mine are feeders...I have some Rex, double Rex, Dumbos and then when it comes to the colors, welllllll...that's where I get lost, lol! Regardless, glad she threw a nice litter like she did and is working out for you.

Decided to hold back this girl for her to be a future breeder. She is too cute!

Love that girl you decided to keep!
There is nothing better than really fat crawlers right before they open their eyes. So cute and squishy!
I love even just the age progression in 5 days from the hold back.

She is growing up so fast! Went from opening her eyes to running all over like a crazy lady in two days!
