What temps do you have your thermostat set to?

As the title states what temps do you have your thermostats set to, to achieve the perfect hot spot temps?
I am mainly asking regarding Racks.

The temperature I or other set there t-stat at really does not matter, what matter is the temp YOU need to set YOURS at.

There are a lot of thing that come into play such as ambient room temp, whether the rack is enclosed or not, tub used, substrate used, temps YOU want to achieve etc.

You need to decide the temp you want to achieve and based on that play around with your t-stat to see what it needs to be set at to achieve that temp.

I have t-stat set as high as 98 to achieve a 88 hot spot just like I have t-stat that are set at 85 and to achieve a hot spot of 88, depends on the rack, room etc.

On my rbi rack I have a very old Herpstat tstat, and I have it set at about 99 degrees so I can get a 89-90 degree hotspot. But on my homemade 11 tub rack I use a Zoomed rheostat thingy (not sure what its called but it has a temperature set with the temps written on it.) but anyways its set to 95 degrees for a 90 degree hotspot at the top like 5 and like 88 degree hotspot closer to the bottom.

It does not matter what the little knob is set to. It matters what the tub temp is. A temp gun is your best friend. My temp sensors mount 1/4" above the bottom of the tub.... they came with some gizmo to mount the to the tub floor and thats where they sit. Whatever tub has the temp sensor in it is just for that... the temp sensor. I set that tub up just like the others in the rack... aspen, water bowl, etc, except no snake. My room is 82F ambient. Thermostats all set to 88F and all 3 racks have a hot spot of 90-92F. Some have 3" flextape and others have 4". Some racks have 41qt tubs while others have 8qt tubs.

One well known breeder told me to give my bp's a 6-10F range from hot to cold with the hot side 90-92F and to occasionally check the actual body temp of your snakes. He said they will regulate themselves to around 85-86F body temp given a decent range of temp hot to cold side. I've been checking the last week or so and darn it.... they're most all sitting at 85F body temp
