Snake doesn't stay in it's hide.

Is this a good sign or a bad sign? Temps are good, the only time I see the snake in it's hide are early in the morning before I leave for about 2 hours after feeding. Otherwise it's climbing branches or curled up on the cool side.

How long have you had this snake? Does the setup have a heating pad? If so, how do you regulate it? What kind of hides do you have? Sorry, these are just questions that need to be asked!!

I think the hot side hide is a Fluker Castle Crib and there is a heating pad under the tank, it is made made to look like a hollow rock outcropping with a water bowl on top. I use a infared thermometer to measure the temp inside the hide and its around 92-94. Cool side is around 82, no hide but some hanging plants and branches the snake can hide behind or climb on.

I would start off by getting a second hide. Your ball could also be searching for food, how much does your ball weigh, what are you feeding it and how often are you feeding?

The castle crib is better suited as a cold side hide, as keeping the water on the warm side is not necessarily ideal. An inexpensive option to use instead could be a cork flat or one of those simple black plastic hides, both of which the snake would probably enjoy better as a warm side hide.

If it was me, I might try and drop the hot side a couple degrees and up the cool side a couple. See if that helps.

I don't think it's really a big problem.... Might be a little toasty when it's sleeping.

Does your under tank heater have a thermostat regulating it? Without one they can and will get hot enough to kill your snake. They are NOT optional.

This is why I asked the questions I asked!!!!!

I would say keep ur cool side anywhere around 78-81 degrees, and def drop the temp on the warm side so it's about 88-91 degrees. This is how I keep mine and they seem to love it, moving from cool to warm and the other way around. If you do not have a thermostat, you need to get one NOW. I made the mistake of going without one for a while and when I hooked mine up and placed the thermometer probe in top of the Uth, it was hitting about 114 degrees....so just keep in mind ur bp might burrow under the substrate and touch the glass or plastic directly and if that is too high you may need to see a vet about severe burns!!!! Everything else you have set up sounds fine, personally, I don't think the castle hide needs to be on any particular side, as long as ur temps are running fine that's all that matters!!!!!!

Edit: I would def get a 2nd hide if you can, in fact, get the same exact one so they feel comfy/safe on both sides. Also don't forget, if the hid is too big, the bp may not hide in it due to the fact they like to feel secure and in a tight spot!! You don't want it too small obviously, but you do want them to be able to touch all sides when balled up and you want it to be the same on both sides!!!!
