    Heating question

Ok so I am keeping my little BP in a 10 gallon tank with aspen bedding. Using a UTH and a thermostat (reptotherm). I frequently check the temps with a handheld digi thermometer. The warm side has been fine, floating at around 90 usually but the cool side is about 75-76 it seems. Im afraid thats too low and dont know what to do. Do I get another heater and set it lower for the low to mid 80s? Just not sure what to do and already have wires floating around everywhere. Thanks for the help!

Is your tank covered with a wire screen? If so, check out the link below - it helps with humidity, maybe the foil will help boost your ambient temps as well.

    Re: Heating question

My cool side is usually around 77-78 and my babies are fine. They eat like clockwork (no refusals at all...even my new additions), pee, poop, etc. like normal. Yes, it's a little low, but they seem to be doing fine as it is. As long as they are eating and pooping well, it's probably alright.

Under tank heaters do not change the temperature of the air in the tank so they are useless for heating the cool side.

    You have a few options:

Low wattage infrared heat bulb on a lamp dimmer

Increase the temperature of the room

your temps are fine, just don't let them go any lower.
Covering a portion of the top will help.
UTH's do add ambient temperature to a tank, just not usually enough to keep the cool end warm enough, which is why many tanks also need an over-head heat source.

Thats a great idea! My humidity is pretty good overall but does drop a little low so that could solve two problems. Ill look into it. Thanks a million

My air temps arent really the problem its when I check the bedding on the cool side. I may increase the room temp just a tad though to help out. Thanks very much.

btw. I live in Orlando too. You going to the FIRE show this weekend?

Ill try the cover and see if that holds in a few extra degrees and if it becomes an issue I have a light already. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.

I keep my ambient temps between 75-80. The snakes do fine as long as they have access to a hot spot and the ambient doesn't get any colder then that.

If the temp is really bothering you, another UTH set to 80 isn't a bad option.

Honestly though, I think you'll be fine especially being in florida. Just turn your AC down a notch
