    Meaner with age? :(

Well my very first snake, Irwin, has never hissed, striked, or showed any type of aggression towards anybody. But within the past few days she has hissed at me twice!! She ate 2 days ago. Literally nothing has changed in her enclosure to stress her out, her eating schedule has been the same, nothing has changed. I haven't handled her as much as usual because of school and work. I used to handle her alot, but like i said school and work have stopped me from handling her as much within the past few weeks.

So should I just handle her some more to get her re-used to me?

Yeah, I wouldn't take it to heart. Sounds like you either just caught her at a bad time or your recent lack of intimacy together has made her a little moody. I would just give her some extra love and she should settle back down.

I think she was just Letting you know she didn't want to be bothered. Reptiles in general tolerate us but don't necessarily like or want our attention. No reason to stress her for a couple hisses. That was her polite way of saying bugger off. :-)

Yea i just ignore that. I used to try and be careful and try to avoid picking them up when theyre in a pissy mood but i dont really anymore. I'd rather get hissed at and interupt a nap than leave them with a dirty tub.

Plus, if you crap in your water bowl, you know damn well im coming in and interupting your nap and petting you all over when you dont wanna be pet just bc you made a mess lmao! Yea... I think i should probably stop talking to my snakes so much

Yea i was worried at first, but eventually they finally started answering me. Its so cute when theyre in that phase where theyre learning to talk and they kinda just hiss.

I talk to mine all the time, lol, they could care less. Op, I wouldn't take it personal. She could have been having a bad day, or maybe going into shed. My puppy dog hissed at me when I moved him from a tank to a tub. He wasn't happy at first. But he's back to his baby self and eatingike a champ. They are entitled to "bad" days too. You aren't happy go lucky 100% of the time are you??

Hissing isn't mean, anyhow...it's more of a complaint.
