Yeah, there is no way it is accurate if his snake is having a bad shed at 75-90% humidity like the OP said. I'm still betting they have a defective hygrometer and the humidity is much lower than it says it is. Bad sheds on balls usually only happen when your humidity is extremely low. I've had several balls shed just fine at 40-50% humidity when I accidentally missed them going into shed. If it were truly 99% humidity like you say it is now you wouldn't be able to see anything in your tank. It would be all fogged over with water droplets covering the walls.
