Reptile Basics rack ambient temp issues!

I have had my Reptile Basics CB70 rack for a few weeks now, and unlike what Rich told me, in my room temps (70-75) my cool side ambient is only a degree above my room temp at best. My parents do not want me to heat the room with a space heater (too much electricity)
The rack is heated by a single strip of 4 inch flexwatt, which works fine for my hotspot, but not ambient temps
Any suggestions, RBI users?

I have used a sheet of plastic and draiped it over the front of the rack. This will help reflect the heat in and cold out. They use this method with fish farming and it works well. Hope it helps! Cheers

how cool is the room temps of your house?.....did you ventilate your tubs?if so perhaps you put too many holes in them?....that being said experimentation is your friend ....im confident you will find a solution.....the plastic sheet thing sounds like it would work,i hang towels over the fronts of my racks everynite at sundown for privacy and light cycling since we stay up pretty late around here....also makes em come out and move for night feedings

How hot is the hot spot? I also found that in a colder room, I took a piece of leather(from a old personal planner) and cut pieces to cover the sides of the rack where the flex watt runs. Rich told me it was ok to do this, it raised the amp temp up a few degrees. And worked perfect and makes the rack look really nice with no holes in the side.
