I don't have firsthand experience yet, but my friend used a Herpstat 1 to successfully control an incubator this season. Going by that and what I see on the spec sheet for features (safety and otherwise), I'll probably be investing in one of those models for the coming season.

Re: thermostat for incubation
thats what i was thinking but i looked around and saw a couple people talk about the ve-200, herpstat basic, and the helix. but i wanted to know which other one would be good if i decided to go with either one

Any of the recommended proportional T-stats used on regular snakes are equally great for incubators.
- Herpstats
- Helix
And while people have successfully incubated eggs with on/off type T-stats, I wouldn't risk the constant temp flux.

X2. helix, herpstat, ve-200/300, even a ranco is fine I just prefer proportional over on/off, like satomi said, don't wanna risk it

Re: thermostat for incubation
I use the old herpstat nd. reason you can adjust the temps by 1/10 of a degree, you can set high and low temp alarms, shows the power useage in % for the present time. has a resttable fuse. plus more.
I know spyder robotics just redesigned the herpstats recently. and they still have these features on some of the new ones. plus some added saftey features. I just recently purchase the herpstat 4. go on there website and do a little research. you won't be disappointed with the herpstat. good luck don

I use ve-200 and it has been flawless.
