Yes it's normal. My husband's did it too.
By the way, contrary to what it sounds like, a yellowbelly doesn't actually have a yellow belly.

i know most don't have actually yellow bellys i was more talking about the yellow stripes that run up her side onto the pattern

The yellowing down the sides doesn't mean much in determining a yellowbelly.
To be honest, like pastels, yellowbelly's have been so poorly bred "imo" that 75% of them are blah, hardly have flames, and don't have the pretty yellowing on the belly.
Unfortunately one has to be very selective if they want a nice yellowbelly.

I actually had the privilege of holding an awesome spider belly last night . It was produced by a local breeder and her yb seems to really pull the pattern all the down through the belly! This spider belly had the spider web's all the way through the belly, some of the lines looked like a full pattern all the way around the snake!
5.3 normals, 3.1 mojave, 2.4 pastels, 1.0 yellow belly, 1.1 cinnamon, 1.1 het pied, 1.0 pastel/yellowbelly
Also: Burmese, Retic, RTBs, kenyans, dumerils, hognose, corns, milk, king, uromastyx, leopard geckos, bearded dragons, dart frogs, tortoises, tarantulas, cockatiels, reef tanks, dogs, cats, chickens, goat, rats and???
