I use an ultrasound to see follicle size, I will sometimes place a male in with a female that has 6mm follicles. she's nowhere near ready to breed, but trying to just simulate her. she will show no interest in breeding ( moving around her tub with her scent glands out ) next morning they are locked. other males nothing will happen. the best time to start placing a male with a female is 12mm to 15 mm follicles. my male clown is a very strong breeder thats the cb70 racks will move slightly and you can hear him banging around from outside the snake room. if the rack is a rockin' don't come a knockin'

I even heard of male bp's locking other males. never witness this
