Was just wondering what's the average a 12 month old ball should weigh?

Well there's not really a age-to-weight standard it could depend on a lot of different factors like genetics, prey size, health, sex. I have a female around 8 mos old weighs around 700 grams and a 7 mo that weighs a little over 350 g. Generally speaking I would say at 12 months about 750 grams. I always figure about they gain about 100 g a month in my experience. How much does yours weigh curently? What are you feeding? How long have you had it?

I agree. I have one 12 month that weighs almost 800 grams. She eats small rats and has never refused a meal , even in shed. I have another 12 month that weighs just over 400 grams, but I am lucky if she eats 2 weeks in a row.

Most of my 1 year olds are typically around 600-800g. If they are females, they tend to go through a slump in eating around 700g. I've had females up to 700g in 6-7 months and then they get picky and stay there for another 4 months. Can be frustrating at times but I've learned to be patient .

How much do yours weigh?

The missing thing is length a 3 foot 800gm snake is under weight a 1 foot 800 gm is likely over weight. There are so many factors it is hard to say.

While this is true, I've never had a snake become quite that lanky nor fat in a year.

Our yearling balls are usually between 800-1,200g for females and 500g and up for males. This can vary a bit, but I would be wary of someone selling a yearling that was only 200-300g.

Just weighed the little boy and he's 325g!!

Is this bad? Here is some pictures from today.



Only got him a few days ago. Seems a very happy boy.

Sadly, I have a rehab animal that is just over one year when she arrived at under 100 gm. They absolutely can be lanky at one year, triangular even.

Alex, he isn't in horrible condition, but some extra groceries wouldn't hurt him. BTW, those last two photos came out sweet!

kitedemon, that is just sad and I think you misinterpreted my post. I was referring to how you posted extreme weight to length ratios. I've seen some skinny, underfed balls, but less than 100g at over a year old? How can anyone do that to them and sleep at night? Grr!
