Re: New Cal King
Nice looking snake. I love the two offset saddles in the pattern. They really stand out and break up the banding.

My guess would be that what you're smelling is musk. Many snakes when threatened or in a stressful situation will secrete a foul smelling yellowish/cream colored substance from their vent known as musk. You said the previous owner didn't handle this snake much and with the move today I think this is probably most likely the source of the smell.
With proper husbandry, some handling, and some time this shouldn't be an issue.

Cute banded, and yeah the musk....some do it more than others so it's just something to get used to lol

Thank you! That was what i figured, the guy never really handled him. He told me he had been gone for months. Any way to tell his age? Someone told me the tail stripe thing. Oh and the guy told me he was feeding a hopper every week, for a 2 year old snake there is no way he can take a hopper. He is pretty tiny. Even with the stress and move he ate two fuzzys pretty quick, tried a 3rd but he was done. A few hours after I got him home he had a complete one piece shed. I am very happy with him and I plan to work with him, get him used to handling, and get him up to weight.
