    Smelly BP

I have a question for you guys.

Ever since I got my baby BP the room I keep my Reptiles in has come to have this really distinct Snake smell. It reminds me of Snake musk but also smells like BP urates.
What I'm wondering is how do I get rid of this smell? I'm surprised how much it smells since I just have one tiny snake.

I use paper towels as substrate and change them as soon as my BP makes a mess so I don't understand how he's making the room smell up so much? I haven't been able to properly deep clean his tank which I know is contributing to the smell. Reason being is because the UTH is stuck to the bottom of the tank so I can't really put it in the tub to scrub it down and rinse it off.

I need some suggestions on how to get rid of this smell or at least lesson it. The room never smelt when it was just my Leo.

What can I use other than water to wipe out the tank that will help get rid of the smell?

    Thanks muchly guys.

I wipe mine down with F10 everytime they mess it. I only smell anything when someone poops.

You have only been using water to clean his tank? At least use some mild dish soap and rinse it thoroughly. I use chlorhexidine. I know a lot of folks here use it as well.

So far yes because I don't know what is bad for them or not. I can't rinse it out because I don't want to get the UTH wet.
What is F10 and chlorhexidine if I may ask? I was going to deep clean his tank fully tomorrow after he's finished shedding and finished digesting his last meal. Going to clean his tank and air out the room a bit and see if that helps.
Maybe I will scrub the tank down with soap and rinse it in the tub and just make sure the UTH doesn't get wet. I dunno.

not sure what type of uth you are using. all the ones I've seen, if it gets wet, just wipe it off the best you can. it will be ok.

Go to reptile basics website, he carries them and has descriptions of them as well. F10 is a veterinary grade disenfectant. It is diluted, so a little bottle goes along way. I use it to clean my rats too.

Healthy Habitat works well too. I know you can get a huge gallon of Chlorahexadine cheap from Walmart though.

I use F10 for my snakes and rats as well works great. Cured my odor issue with my rats easily just make sure you follow the directions. I use a little less than .5ml to a 1000ml spray bottle (should be 4ml) for the 250-1 ratio

I use chlorhex, we use it in our digicam ward at the hospital. I also got a free bottle of F10 that I plan to use but a gallon of chlorhex goes a long long long way lol!
