Baby Ball Python Feeding Question
This might sound dumb, but I'm assuming that if I get a young Ball Python it will be fed on live mice. I want to feed frozen/thawed. Will it be difficult to adjust to frozen/thawed for a new ball python?

First, ask the breeder what they were feeding it. I normally try to start my hatchlings on rat pinkies. If that doesn't work, then I try mouse hoppers. A few feedings on those, then I try a f/t pinky rat. They usually convert over on the second or third feeding. Good luck!

It depends on the snake. Some take f/t no problem, some take awhile to convert over, and some won't take f/t at all. I'd ask what the previous owner/seller/breeder has it on first but it wouldn't hurt to try a f/t off the bat IMO.

I agree. I try to start everyone on rats. Which makes it easy for me. If they don't take I go for mice hoppers and switch back after a few meals. Of course there are those really stubborn ones.
I don't feed ft so I leave it at my preferred live prey. But most of the time if you from your snakes preferred live prey to prekilled, then ft after a few meals they can switch easily.

I dropped in a couple of hoppers that had died on the way home, ate no problem. but my smaller one refuses to eat ft or prekilled I tried to feed it a rat that I stunned even the was uninteresting until it came to and then he went into attack mode lol. it all depends man.
