    Flexwatt question

So, I'm in the process of setting up a small homemade rack system (more like a shelving system) and I'm wondering about setting up the Flexwatt. I've watched quite a few videos and get the gist, but something I haven't seen is how/where to place the probe for the thermostat. In other words, do I need to sandwich it between the shelf and the heat tape or between the heat tape and the tub? I would assume I don't want the foil tape covering the probe...? I'm really not sure which way is most effective and after using the search feature, I couldn't find anything on the topic. Sorry if the question has been answered and my search was just sub-par. Thanks in advance!

    Re: Flexwatt question

What I do is I place the probe directly on the heat tape in a area that won't effect the tubs from sliding, it doesn't have to be under the tub. I place a few pieces of foil tape on the probe and on the cord to make sure it won't fall off. After you tape down the probe you just have to adjust the setting on your tstat to achieve the proper temp you are looking for.
For example my tstat is set to 101 and that gives me 93 for a hot spot. Yours will depend on your set up and tubs.
Hope that helps. Anything thing else feel free to ask.

Just be careful when taping down the probe. You don't want to tape down and cover the entire probe. Foil tape will trap heat and will give you off readings.
I recommend just taping down the tip of the probe and the cord down with packaging tape or something similar.

Ah, I KNEW I had read that somewhere! Makes sense. Thanks for the info. Gah, I love being able to use the shortcut of everyone else's experience/knowledge.
