Probably a silly question but...

I have always understood that snakes can eat things far larger than their head would lead you to believe but after my first two successful feedings I began to wonder if feeding them mice/rats that are too big could hurt them. If you gave them something too large do they just know themselves they could not eat it or does animal instinct make them try anyways. Again it feels like a silly question but just for sheer curiosity....


Also anyone have water preferences? Store bought spring? Filtered? Tap treated for chlorine? Just plain tap?

Some snake species can eat prey larger than themselves. Other can't.

Chlorine dissipates fairly quickly. Spending money on chemicals to remove chlorine from tap water would be a waste.
