Picking up a Ball from FedEx need advice

So I recently purchased an Albino Ball Python, I was supposed to have him last week but due to the weather, the breeder (Garrick) wanted to wait until the temperature dropped and decided to ship to a FedEx facility verse my door step, to ensure the safe arrival of my new ball.

My question is, should I wait until I get home until I open home him up? If not, should I open him as soon as I get him? If so, should I bring something to bring him home in? The drive to the FedEx facility is only like 20-30 minutes from home, I would just kinda feel bad to open him at the FedEx facility and stick him back into the same package he came in until I got home.

Any advice would be greatly be appreciated!

Not sure why you would feel bad about putting him back in the proper packaging that he came in for the ride home...

But yeah, you can open up the package and check him out before you go home and put him back in the bag/deli cup and back in the box for the ride home.

Either way is fine. But if it will put your mind at ease, it wouldn't hurt to check out your snake at Fedex. Garrick puts his snakes in deli containers, so you don't have to bring a separate carrier.

I would open the box as soon as you receive the package from them at the desk incase something went wrong during shipping.

I always open before I go home. First one I did in the FedEx hub & the lady freaked, so now I just open them in my car.

I would suggest opening it and checking on the little guy before leaving the FedEx Hub as well. But you shouldn't need a separate container to bring him home in. The deli cup Garrick will have used is full of paper towel padding. Nice and comfy for the ride home.

Thanks for everyone's input! I will check at the FedEx hub just to make sure the little guy is ok. I should have him Tuesday morning, I will post pics once I get him home!

I would open it in the car, make sure the snake is alive and well, pack it back up and drive home.

This. Opening in the car would be fine, get some fresh air in there. Opening inside the facility, or at the counter, just opens you up to freaking out reptile phobic FedEx folks, and that won't do any of us any good.

Aside from that, FedEx doesn't guarantee live arrival or anything else, so if something has gone wrong, opening inside FedEx doesn't give you any advantage.

If it was shipped with Live Arrival Insurance from SYR, you have a four hour window to make a claim, so there is still no advantage to opening inside.

But when I pick up a live shipment from FedEx, or Delta, I do open the box in the car to get that fresh air in, and of course it is hard to resist getting that first look : )
