Re: Is this a Firefly??? Opinions Please
Thanks to everyone that has responded.
Im a boa constrictor breeder but i have about 11 ball pythons, i actually traded for this firefly his pics were bad and when the snake came in it didnt pop out
to me as other firefly's do. Ive had people say its probably a lower grade firefly but this is why i think its not a pastel or just a fire.
1. Pastels have more oranges with yellows so young and yellowish eyes, this girl has black eyes.
2. I dont think its just a fire as i have never seen a fire with this much yellow plus the head blushing.
So i wanted to know if i traded $750-800 value for a firefly female or just a $350-400 killer fire. Or worst super nice pastel female $200. Lol.
More opinions welcomed.
And thanks again.

1. Actually pastels with a lot of orange is typically an unwanted trait. More orange, the more brown it's going to be as an adult. The more bright yellow, the better.
2. Fires can get that bright yellow cream colored, but not usually as hatchlings. They brighten up with age.
Are you going to breed her or is she just a pet?
Because for breeding purposes, I would rather have a killer fire or a super nice pastel female than a dirty looking firefly. Dirty = dirty babies usually.

It's definitely not a pastel.
If it's a firefly, I wouldn't have bought it.
If it's a fire, you slightly overpaid. However, I say slightly because again, IF it is JUST a fire, it's one of the nicest fires I've seen .
I would have stayed away tbh. Proving it to be either a low grade firefly or a high grade fire just isn't my cup of tea.

Well after emailing lots of ball python people posting here and other forums the majority say its a firefly.
They also say it can get better with each shed (this girl is on 1 shed) so she will probably get better.
Of course it will be used for breeding one day, who gets a firefly for just a pet?
Thanks for the input guys.

I traded boas for it, pics were taken with a wacked camera so i tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. It actually came in
better than the photos.

Lot's of people have high end collections that are pet-only.
Take Slim(one of the moderators) for example, he has top notch multi-gene snakes in his collection, but he doesn't breed.
Some simply enjoy and appreciate the beauty of a top dollar snake w/o wanting to breed it.
And a close friend of mine is buying a Blue Eyed Lucy. It's her first snake and just wants a beautiful pet.

I don't think she has enough yellow. Why do you ask what she is? Did you buy her as a fire?

If you would have read the thread it says i traded her as a firefly.
I am convinced by many that she is indeed a firefly.
Thanks

Hard to say. There's no head spot for the a regular fire, but the head doesn't seem purple enough to be a firefly. Hmmmmm
