    Help with bp.

I have a bp that has some scratching from a rat. I'm going to treat it. But I don't know how much I should dilute the betadine. My boyfriend said you need to dilute it. Does anyone know how much I should? Should it be 50/50?

I don't know of any reason to dilute it.

If it was me I would clean it with betadine, rinse or wipe off, and then put on some neosporin.

Will it only eat live? This is why its not recommended even though it is fun to watch.

If it makes you feel better I don't think diluting it would be a problem either.

I don't think feeding live is fun. What's so "fun" about it? And I feed all 50+ of my bps live...........

Also, don't use neosporin, just use the betadine and in a shed or two you won't even notice it.

My Albino gets the boots sometimes too.

That scratch looks pretty minor, but if you do want to treat it just use seom betadine and wipe it down and it should be gone in no time. As for polysporin, in case you ever do use it you want to make sure that you are using the one without a pain reliever!

    Nice high contrast Albino!

so you don't have to dilute it. that's good to know. as for live feeding, that's all we've ever feed on. we have 19 snakes and only 2 will eat pre killed. although i really don't watch them eat. I only watch this one eat once. it was when we were switching her from small to medium rats and we wanted to make sure she would eat it. I've only seen her get scratched up once. This is the second. But I thought this looked bad compared to the other one. thanks for answering so swiftly .

Maybe "fun" was the wrong word. Maybe exciting is a better one. I do think it is exciting to watch nature at work and a snake dispatching a rodent is pretty amazing, just like watching a big cat take down large prey is, or like seeing a bird claw a fish from the water. If you dont think so thats fine, I do. I dont see how you can be sensitive on the matter by helping your snakes murder poor little mice.

I think if we did a poll on why people feed live that answer would be near the top. I do not feed live but Im not against it. I dont because I dont want my pets harmed nothing more.

I didnt write it to you. After all you know everything except how to answer the OP's question. Thanks for you input. It was noted that you have been unable to teach your snakes to write. Keep working on it.

Good catch by el8ch. Dont use the pain relief formula.

Why arent they all listed, are you holding out on us?

Please nobody take my comment about live so serious. I was just trying to show the point to a less expierenced keeper that may be reading this thread to think about what could happen with feeding live. If you do its cool with me. I have done it before and Im sure I will do it again. A long long time ago I had a mouse that had alot to live for do some real damage to a king snake. It was after that incident I decided that maybe thats not be the best way feed. This was before the time of the internet and before great forums like this.
