Fortunately I didn't get the nickname from this movie, although I did enjoy it. I got into pirates a few years later when I saw Down Periscope(1996) starring Kelsey Grammer and Lauren Holly. The scene where they make Rob Schneider walk the plank got me started. When I started talking like a pirate at work, they started calling me captain ron and it just stuck.
