Heating during the winter......
Got both balls "new" PVC cages. So far I love them! In the top each cage has a lighting fixture, like the one in the link below, is there a red heat bulb that will fit that type of fixture? I am worried about winter temps. The only heat source is an UTH heat nat from Reptile Basics. I want to put RHP in their ages, but after buying the "new" cages it's not possible right now. I am sure I can drill a hole cover with a screen to put a CHE, but I do not want to go that route. Suggestions please I want to be ready for winter.

could you use one of those, but add the ceramic bulb?
as long as you monitor the UTH with a thermostat control, you should be fine.

I just can't find a ceramic light to fit that type of fixture. My kids rooms get about 70 during the winter .

it's in a PVC cage, and it's hard for me to help as I'm not sure the exact model they are in. The heat should hold better in the pvc cage then the outside ambient air. I have a small tiny heater running all the time, and a very tiny fan on the other side to help cycle the air. My ambient air in that area is around 75+. Are you able to post the model of the pvc cage?
The ceramic bulb I was thinking of was is like this

(the two on the top) but the first one on the left might work if you combined a light and a ceramic bulb, as long as the wattage allows it.

Those will not work, the light fixture takes the tube lights with prongs on the end. Not a good picture, but here is the cage. The size is 34 1/2" L x 14 1/4" H x 17" deep.

Cover it the thickest blue foam insulation board you can find. Just silicone it together in a shape that will fit over your cage, and you'll be all set. (We're going to do this with our racks this winter, to save money).

Could I leave the light on during the day, and it will retain heat for the night?
