Boa Care
Hey everyone, I currently keep ball pythons and I was also thinking about getting a boa. There may have been posts already on this topic but I am kind of in a hurry to get going so I didn't look but if you guys could point me in that direction or give me tips here that would be great. I was wondering what kind of temperature I need for a Boa (RTB most likely), what size enclosure I need, and could I keep a small one in my ball python rack? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

x3. Boas get too large for a BP tub - even small boas would be too big. If you buy a baby though, after the quarantine period, you could possibly keep in it the BP rack until it outgrew it. That would last about 6 months +/-.
Read the caresheet LGray posted - all the husbandry info is there. Boas require similar care to BPs so you shouldn't have any trouble. I love my boas - they are great pets!
One significant tip I will offer now because I think it's important to note: Feed only once every 7-10 days!! Even though their husbandry is similar, boas are NOT ball pythons. Feed them a prey item about as big around as the snake - a rodent that will not leave a noticable lump in the belly. Boas should be nice and lean and have a slightly squarish look. They are not heavy like BPs and they should be grown slowly. Even wee little baby boas should not eat more than once every 7 days. Here's your mantra: feed one a week.
