Your kingsnake sounds like mine when he was a baby which means he's an escape artist and possibly a pig.
Aside from tearing the room apart maybe this:
This might be a bold move, but I would try this if you are confident enough to do it: Put the hamsters in a cage/container/enclosure with much smaller holes in it and let them be "bait" for the snake. Hopefully he'll come after the scent of the hamsters.
If anyone thinks my idea isn't good, please speak up. I did say it could be a bold move.
Or, if you are cooling off the room perhaps set up one hot spot for him to go to and you may get him that way. Also, perhaps block under the doorway with a towel.
Also, if you have a dog, it may find it w/o harming the snake. That happened to me once. If it wasn't for the dog, I probably wouldn't have found my little guy.
