Bp Set Up, What's your opinion?

Ok so every time I read a post about the correct set up for a ball python, it says to have two thermometers and two hides (one on the cool and one on the hot). But I just got a snake rack with built in heat and thermometer, pretty basic. So the issue I have is that I know for a fact most breeders just keep their snakes in a tub with a water bowl and that's it. I just want to hear what anyone else's opinion is on this.

I would offer at least one hide and as long as everything fit two.

That's just me. Many people don't put hides in racks.

After I went to a presentation by Brian Gundy about how he does it, I'm not to worried with my larger snakes having hides in my racks. He says he never uses a hide and his snakes make their own hides out of the newspaper substrate. All of my babies and juveniles have hides but he was right about the adults. They love to burrow under the newspaper!

Thats what i was thinking because i have started to notice that with my adults. Even my sub adult boa and BP just burrow for their hides. Thanks for the advice though

I do not use hides in my breeder rack except for the problem feeders. Our 41qt Adult tubs offer a lot of security and a nice dark area at the back of the tub, also hard to find and fit a hide for a big breeding size female. If you are not using a rack setup, I would stick to 2 identical hides, 1 on the hot and 1 on the cool side to ensure your BP has the security they need to be comfortable and thermoregulate as needed.
