Yep, seeing your baby grow and develop is pretty cool. Especially when they are a little awkward and clumsy at first, then they turn into a sleek predator.

Re: Can we say "fast food"?
I remember when we had our 3rd feed. It convinced me we made the switch from live to F/T for good. The fun part now is to watch the growth.

Lol! I had a couple of weeks where all of my "veteran hunters" would miss their first strikes. Lookin all clumsy like they were being offered their first meals ever! It was so weird... But they have recently perfected their aim again and all of them hit on their first strike even little miss head wobble! As much as you want them to grow and be all big its really cool watching them progress and change. How big is your little worm?

I find that my snakes are much more aggressive when the prey is larger. Perhaps they feel like they better attack quick because "this prey doesn't look like it's going to be as easy - so I'd better be quick"

They always amaze me at feeding time. They are good at what they do.

I just finished feeding two of my males (one was on his hunger strike) which I got him back now eating again. He has ate so much lately (not power feeding btw)
Anyways, the second I opened his bin, he was coming at me so fast. I've never seen him move like this. I was holding the live 87 gram rat, and he went up so high out of his bin he was able to get to the bin above him if he wanted to. He wanted that rat so badly. Perfect strike, and coiled up taking it down the whole way to his hide. I am still in shock.

Haha, definitely true! The first 2 feedings were more clumsy and awkward. I got to see the first glimpse of sleek predator in there.

How random for the big ones to get all clumsy. We've got the spider wobble going on here but the more he eats, the more it's not as prevalent. Last night the only "odd" tick was trying to eat the mouse upside down. It was pretty comical, not gonna lie. He hatched out 6-15-12 and is currently 87 grams. Now that I understand my food sizing was off and correcting that, I'm pretty sure he's gonna start gaining quickly with his voracious little appetite.

Really? I hadn't thought of that!

Lol, that's pretty similar to what happened at our feeding.

Our baby went 2 weeks without eating, during her shed. We upped her mouse size at the last feeding and she struck so fast. But she is still very "awkward" - she strikes often at the side of the mouse. I was afraid the mouse was too big. She went to the tail end first and after working on that a while, she sniffed around for the head, but the the mouses head was under the fattest part of her body. It was funny and sad at the same time to watch. She couldn't figure out where the end of the mouse went, or how to get herself off of it. ha ha
Eventually, she got it down and seem very happy with her bigger meal

I read your post first, then once my daughter goes down for he 11am nap, I take care of all the rats and mice first, bring over what's for food to the snakes, then they get taken care of. It was funny how it happened right after your post.
