Quick question
So i've read about ball pythons going on a fast just not eating for months and what not. Now the thing i never see anyone mention is if you can hold the python when they decided not to eat or not, just wondering if it is a good or bad idea.

If one of my snakes is fasting, I leave it alone as much as possible. Minimal handling. I'm sure that handling them won't make them eat any sooner, if anything it will prolong the fast.

If one of my snakes refuses for 2 weeks in a row, they go on my no handling list. They still get cage cleaning, and every Sunday get a full tub clean and scrub but i do not handle them, they come out of their tub, into my spare tub, then back to their tub once their cage is cleaned. Then they get offered food later in the day. And repeat untill they eat.

While I agree that handling the snake could cause undue stress and potentially prolong a fast, if it is during the breeding season and they decide to fast handling/not handling will not change that fact. Personally I enjoy handling my snakes and would hold them but sparingly if I feel the fast is due to the time of year. Just my personal feelings though .

I had a snake go off feed for around 9 months. She ate once or twice in the middle of that. I didn't handle her at all during her fast. Eventually she started eating again and has been eating every week since. Who knows why they stop! It is very frustrating.
