    Never on the warm side?!

I have my Ball Pythons in a room of their own, and the room's temp is 79-80 degrees, There is a good fan in the room and the temperature is even throughout (top to bottom). Each tub (41Qt) has a hot spot provided by 4" flexwatt @ 89-90 degrees.

I have 2 females, 1 Pastel and 1 Albino that I see almost every time I walk into the room on the cold side. I have actually seen the Albino squashed against the cool side wall as if to say "It's too hot in here"... but at only 80 is it? I'm cautious about lowering the ambient temp to 78, although I have heard of others doing so.

    What are your thoughts?

I took the temp probe (Spyder Robotics) and stuck it onto the floor of a tub without a snake in it. I also verified with a temp. gun

I would leave the ambient temp alone and drop the flex watt just a tad and see how they act. My bp often stays on a spot in her tank that is 88 over the 90, they know best.

    Hmmm...

I take it the water dishes are located on the cool side? Do you have hides, if so, where are they? Could they be gravitating toward the side with the water dish as their only potential source of cover?

Interesting..... maybe I can try lowering the hot spot for a few days to see if there is any effect.

The water dish isn't exactly in the middle, but is close. It's closer to the front then the back. I don't use hides for any of my snakes, as the room is dark all the time. Maybe I'll try throwing a hide into their tubs to see.... They were hatched in 2009 (pastel) and (2011) Albino and have ever had hides.
