Thermostat probe, where to put it?
Does the thermostat probe go outside the tank, and on top of the UTH (between glass and mat)? Or does it go underneath the mat (non-sticky side)? I'm afraid of melting and/or fire.

Place the thermostat probe directly over the UTH on the outside of the tank. The thermometer probe goes inside the tank over the uth

Re: Thermostat probe, where to put it?
I've heard both so I'm just very confused.

Between the heat pad and the tank. It won't melt or burn as long as you don't set the t'stat too high.

The thermostat should be on the outside directly on the heat source. It's the thermometer probe that you put on the inside. God forbid your snake ever moves a thermostat probe on the inside of the enclosure, you'll have a fried snake. Placing it on the outside prevents movements and shorts (caused by urine, feces, spilled water dish, etc).

Glad someone asked this, I'm just getting ready to do our 1st set-up for my daughter and me.. I wasn't real sure about the placement of the thermometer probe. We picked up a Acu-Rite combo one that does the humidity and temp.. Still not real sure where we should attach or place this at?

Don't mistake thermoMETER for the thermoSTAT. Thermometer probes go inside the enclosure, thermostat probe goes outside on the heat source. Both are very necessary.

Yep we have the Hydrofarm thermostat for the outside of the tank. I see you place it between the UTH mat and the tank itself.
Where in the tank should we put the probe of the Temp/Humidity gauge ? Low on the side of the tank? Under the substrate? (We're gonna try carpet) Hot side or Cool side? In the middle?
Where?
