what would the percentages be if ....
Trying to wrap my head around basic genetics and need some help. Am I correct in thinking, if I bred an albino to a non albino piebald, I would get a clutch of normal looking babies that would be double het for the albino and piebald traits? Then if I bred 2 of these double het babies back together what would the make up of the clutch be. I tried doing a punnets square and came up with 50% double het normals, 25% pieds, and 25% albinos. I must be missing something in my thinking because how does the percetanges work out that you sometimes get an animal that will expresses both recessive traits as in albino piebalds. Tried to work this out on the genetics calculator website but could not figure it out there either.
thanks

Yea the problem with that second clutch is you will get some visuals but the rest of the normal looking snakes you will have no idea what they are het for so you could at best say poss double het albino pied. And yes you could get double gene visuals out of that as well. Sometimes the genetic calculator has a few flaws

You need to use a punnet square that is 4x4 instead 2x2. Also you can use the genetic wizard morph calculator.

if your looking for answers, there you go. If your still curious about how to do your punnet square, heres how you set it up, every possible combination of genes you can get out of the parent is listed. In this case, both parents are double hets, so your possible combinations are dbl het(AP), het albino(Ap), het pied(aP), or nothing(ap). rest is filling it, counting multiples and seeing how man y big A's and P's are in each one. aa or pp = nothing, Aa=het albino, Pp, = het pied, AA= albino, PP= Pied.
