    Yeah. Those dial gauge petstore thermometers aren't reliable. They're known to be quite inaccurate and 10 degrees off often.

    I suggest returning them and buying a digital one. Walmart carries the $12 Acurite brand digital thermometer with a probe that can measure both the hot and cold side as well as humidity.

    I don't think they have it on their website, but they are definitely in store.

    The key element is the probe.
    The unit measures the cool side and the probe can measure the hot side of your enclosure. And the humidity gauge is a plus.
